Description

From a Distinguished European Collection

Superb ruby and diamond ring, Graff

Claw-set with a cushion-shaped ruby weighing 7.58 carats between half-moon diamond shoulders, size 53, signed Graff.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 129505 and Gübelin report no. 23090052, each stating that the ruby is of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating, SSEF together with an appendix letter; further accompanied by a gemmological report.

Please note that lot 640 is currently unmounted and can be remounted after the sale.
'The described ruby exhibits a remarkable size and weight of 7.580 carats, combined with an attractive and beautifully saturated red colour and a fine clarity, which is further pronounced by its well proportioned cutting style, resulting in a range of vivid red hues due to multiple internal reflections.

The small inclusions found by microscopic inspection and the analysed properties are consistent with those found in rubies from the reputed ruby mines in Burma (Myanmar), well known for its wealth in gems since historic times. These ruby mines include the classical mines in the Mogok valley and further smaller deposits in northern Myanmar such as for example Sagyin and Namya (or Nayaseik).'

Excerpt from the SSEF appendix letter.
