Description

'The Blue Lagoon', Rare and Highly Important Paraíba tourmaline and diamond necklace, Adler

Set with an oval paraíba tourmaline weighing 93.94 carats, the necklace of lariat design composed of marquise-, pear-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds, length approximately 500mm, signed Adler.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 124373, stating that the paraíba tourmaline is of Mozambique origin, the colour is considered stable, together with an appendix letter; further accompanied by two gemmological reports and six GIA reports.

'The described gemstone exhibits an impressive size and weight of 93.94 carats, combined with an attractive blue colour and excellent purity. The few inclusion features found by microscopic examination and the analysed properties are consistent with those found in copper-bearing tourmalines from the Alto Ligonha district in Northern Mozambique.' Excerpt from the SSEF appendix letter.

Paraiba Tourmaline

Only discovered in 1989, in the eponymous Brazilian state, the Paraiba tourmaline has quickly emerged as one of the most coveted gemstones thanks to its mesmerizing, vibrant colour. The trace elements copper and manganese cause this distinct, electrifying colour. Around 2005, Paraiba tourmalines were discovered in Mozambique. Some of the largest and most inclusion-free specimens have been unearthed in the Mozambique mines.

Adler

The Adler family is a tale of many cities. It began with the young Jacques Adler, who after finishing his goldsmithing apprenticeship in Vienna created a jewellery company in 1886, in Istanbul. Jacques’ son Edouard joined the business in 1937 and from an early age, Jacques’ two grandsons, Franklin and Carlo were introduced to the exquisite intricacies of the goldsmith's workshop. In 1972, the third generation, Franklin and Carlo took a major step in the history of the business and moved to open a boutique in the jewellery capital of the world, Geneva.

Franklin's wife, Leylâ, joined the business in 1980 to head the design team in Rome and Geneva and develop new markets. In 2015, Franklin, Carlo and Leylâ transferred the reins of the family business to the next generation, Allen & Daisy. Allen, who is the CEO, oversees business vision and strategy, while his wife Daisy, is the COO and is responsible for creations and operations. They share the family’s core values and seek to rejuvenate and expand the brand’s recognition.

Luxury is a human connection’ is Adler’s motto. Clients are at the heart of everything. Adler takes great pride in fostering personal relationships. As a family-owned business, Adler values human connection and has passed down this belief through four generations. Adler’s creative process allows any team member to bring inspiration from what they read, discover and explore across travels or encounters to the discussion - this open dialogue is essential.

Adler’s design is about simplicity, a play with symmetry, curved movement and comfort. Classical and elegant designs get a timeless twist. The creative process is unique, quite organic – which contributes a lot to the beauty of their pieces. This quality comes to full fruition in the exceptional Blue Lagoon necklace.
