Two Kutani dishes

Edo period, 18^th century 

both circular dishes with slightly raised rim, decorated in iron red, green, blue, yellow, aubergine and black enamels, with the first with a figure in Chinese dress looking out over a mountainous landscape with pavilions and pagodas, the other similarly decorated with tiled rooftop dwellings, pine and other foliage nestled amongst tall mountain crags

each 18 cm., 7 in. diam.
