Kawase Hasui (1883-1957)
Three woodblock prints
Taisho – Showa period, 20th century
each a woodblock print, signed Hasui, sealed Kawase, and comprising:
- Rainbow at Hatta in Kaga Province (Kaga Hatta), from the series Souvenirs of Travel III (Tabi miyage dai sanshu), no publisher’s seal but published by Watanabe Shozaburo, dated Taisho jusannen saku (made in 1924)
- Moon over Izura (Izura no tsuki), publisher’s circular seal Watanbe (Watanabe Shozaburo), dated Showa nijuichinen saku (made in 1952)
- Snow at Itsukushima (Itsukushima no yuki), publisher’s circular seal Watanabe, dated Showa shichinen junigatsu saku (made in December 1932), post-war printing
Each horizontal oban:
25.6 x 38.7 cm., 10⅛ x 15¼ in. (the first)
26.5 x 39.3 cm., 10½ x 15½ in. (the second)
26.9 x 39.9 cm., 10⅝ x 15¾ in. (the third)
