The Carrera was introduced in 1963 and offered quite a contrast to Jack Heuer’s first watch at the brand, the Autavia, and featured a smaller case (35.5 mm case vs the 39 mm for the Autavia) and lack of rotating bezel giving it a less sporty but more elegant look.

The Reference 2447 Carrera had a screw-down case back and round pushers, giving it greater water resistance, and non-contrasting dial with silver registers on silvered dial. Supplied in multiple dial variations, the rarest and least seen is the present configuration, known as the ‘Yachting’ dial, with the addition of 3 blue triangles to the minute register at 3 o’clock. The concept behind this small, flamboyant and attractive addition of the blue sectors was to assist yachtsman with the 15-minute countdown to the start of a race, a feature that can be seen on other similar models including the Abercrombie and Fitch Seafarer and the Heuer Mareographe.

The Heuer Carrera 2447 "Yachting" is one of the rarest of any vintage Heuer’s. Interestingly, it’s a model that never appeared in the Heuer catalog, so it is thought that in may have been a special-order dial or an exceptionally limited production run.

The current watch is presented in remarkable condition, with superb case with full lug proportions and exceptionally well-preserved dial with polished luminous hands. In addition, the watch is accompanied by its original Gay Frères beaded bracelet.
