In 2019, Audemars Piguet launched the Reference 26522CE.OO.1225CE.01 as their third ever all-black-ceramic Royal Oak. The surge in popularity of ceramic watches can be attributed to their practical advantages, including a lighter weight compared to stainless steel and heightened scratch resistance. Essentially, ceramics are formed by subjecting mineral and binding agents to extreme temperatures until they transform into a solid, glass-like substance. The ceramics employed in watchmaking are highly sophisticated, utilizing a diverse range of base materials. These cutting-edge compounds, known as oxide ceramics, offer superior resilience against cracks and scratches, effectively replacing traditional metals. Audemars Piguet opts for a ceramic blend incorporating zirconium oxide and yttrium oxide as the base. The complex manufacturing process has led to fewer models produced and tend to command higher prices compared to their stainless steel counterparts.

This present lot is powered by the hand-wound 2924 caliber, and the extra thin case is paired with a thin black ceramic bracelet that has a titanium folding clasp. Cased in 41 mm, this model sports a prominent tourbillon elegantly positioned at six o'clock. The dial features a beautiful pattern known as the tapisserie evolutive which radiates outwards from the tourbillon and expands asymmetrically. Accompanied by its full suite of accessories, we are pleased to offer this lot in overall excellent condition.
