Diego Giacometti found his muses from a young age in the flora and fauna that surrounded him at his childhood farm home in Switzerland, and these themes continued into his work such as the “Arbre au Hibou” guéridon. The present form is an exquisite example of the younger Giacometti brother’s craftsmanship, who was known for his adoration for owls, which are a notable addition to much of his work. In this table the petite owl is the centerpiece, delicately perching on a branch, showing how the sculptor’s talent and whimsical artistry collide in this celebrated form by the animalier designer.
