An inscribed bronze tiger tally

Ming dynasty

明 銅錯銀「武亭王」虎符


each half inscribed in silver inlay to the spine with a seven-character inscription reading yu Wuting wang wei hu fu (tiger tally for the lord of Wuting), the side of each with Wuting you yi (Wuting right one) and Wuting zuo yi (Wuting left one), respectively (2)

Private Collection, acquired prior to 1931. 

Collection of Colonel J (Jack) H. Thom, D.S.O., received as a gift in Hong Kong, 1931.

Collection of Major General Alfred H., C.B, C.B.E., and Mrs. Joan (née Taylor) Musson, by circa 1970, and thence by descent.
