the base with an apocryphal Chenghua six-character mark in underglaze blue within a circle 


Diameter 17.3 cm, 6¾ in.

Dishes of this type, with butterfly and leaf decoration on the rim and various freely drawn figural scenes in the centre, are believed to have been made for the Kangxi Emperor’s 60th birthday in 1713, and some of them are inscribed with reign marks.
