This painting is a reduced version, with differences in the altar and angels, of the altarpiece (still in situ) datable to 1620–21 commissioned for the Calderini chapel in the right transept of the Church of Santa Croce, Florence.1 A drawing for the kneeling figure of Saint Francis is in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence.2
