The heavy indication of wear on these clogs indicates that they were a favourite of Freddie’s. White clogs were a popular choice of footwear for all Queen band members during the 1970s.  Freddie can seen wearing very similar clogs with various outfits included in this auction on some notable occasions.

Publicity shots of the band used for the A Night At The Opera Tour promotional material show Freddie wearing the Japanese gold and red brocade bomber jacket in lot 157 with a pair of white clogs. Also shots of Freddie wearing his favourite fur jacket in lot 107 frequently feature him wearing white clogs with it; in one such shot of Queen arriving at Tokyo airport on 20 March 1976, the entire band are wearing white clogs. Freddie can be seen wearing white clogs with his brightly coloured Hungarian flame weave jacket on Queen’s first tour of Japan in April 1975, and with a yellow embroidered jacket (in lot 2102) whilst playing the white grand piano at Rockfield Studios, Monmouthshire, in 1975 when recording A Night At The Opera.
