Description
Freddie Mercury's black satin jacket and trousers, worn at a photoshoot and press reception, 1974 - 1976
A vintage jacket of black silk satin jacket with pleated collar and ruched lapels, cross-over front with tie fastening to left side, sleeves gathered at cuffs, lined with pale pink silk, unlabelled; with a pair of black satin trousers with concealed zip fastening.
(qty 2)
This jacket can be seen being worn by Freddie during a photoshoot with Mick Rock in June 1974 (in in at least one photo he also wears a silver choker, lot 111). The jacket was also worn for a press reception at the London Coliseum on 10 September 1976, for the presentation of gold discs for Queen, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack, on which occasion Freddie is also wearing his silver snake bangle (lot 28).
The trousers included here are identical to those seen in a Mick Rock photograph of Freddie performing on stage with Queen in 1974, wearing a black wraparound top with yellow diamante decoration (lot 39). These trousers are slightly different to others from this period included in the auction as the waistband has no button fastening.
