A group of five mixed t-shirts and vests, comprising:

a black cotton t-shirt, the front decorated with the Superman logo in red glitter, labelled ‘Diamond Dust’ (possibly 1970s); a black cotton long-sleeved top, the front decorated with a black vinyl question mark motif, labelled ‘Junior Gaultier’, 1980s; a plain black cotton ribbed vest, cut-out back, labelled ‘body zone’; a plain red cotton vest with cut-out back, unlabelled; and a black cotton long-sleeved top (faded to grey), with shaped hem and ribbed cuffs, the label indistinct, 1970s [much worn]

Superman seems to have been a favourite theme of Freddie’s as there is a photograph of him wearing a similar Superman logo vest or t-shirt to that included in this lot, seen in a photo session with Queen by Johnny Dewe Matthews, Primrose Hill, London, 4 September, 1974 (see ‘Queen, The Complete Illustrated Lyrics’ Backbeat Books, 2012, p. 55); see also lot 2140, Crazy Little Things II, for a white and red glitter version of this t-shirt, and lot 200, On Stage, for Freddie’s stage-worn Superman vest.
