Freddie Mercury’s off-stage wardrobe


A black nylon bomber jacket of sheer fabric, diagonal slit pockets and press stud fastening with black knitted collar, cuffs and hem, labelled ‘Sachi, New York’; a short-sleeved Hawaiian shirt, printed in red, green and black with a pattern of palm trees, canoes and exotic foliage, one left breast pocket, fastening with opaque plastic buttons, with vents to either side near hem, labelled ‘PALI Hawaiian Style Hand Print’ – worn by Freddie in the 1970s; a plain red cotton t-shirt, labelled ‘Jockey Life’; a pair of loose unstructured cotton trousers with elasticated ribbed waistband and two-button fastening, labelled ‘Sweetheart Ibiza’, 1980s; and a pair of navy blue leather dance shoes with white laces and white moulded rubber soles, the insoles labelled ‘Pineapple Dance’, size 6 ½ , in original plastic ‘Pineapple’ drawstring bag (unworn)
