An EMI award for A Day At The Races, a white metal plaque engraved with the Queen crest attached to a black resin stand, the square base with white metal plaque engraved ‘Presented to FREDDIE MERCURY / to recognise the unique achievement of double gold status with advance sales of A Day At The Races December, 1976, 15.5 by 12cm., 6⅛ by 4¾in.


This award can be seen being held by Freddie in a photograph taken when Queen were presented with their gold BPI awards for this album (see lot 2061) the photo is printed on a t-shirt, see lot 2061, Crazy Little Things II, in which Freddie is wearing the ‘Bird of Paradise’ shirt, see lot 175, On Stage.
