A group of Freddie Mercury's mixed footwear, circa 1970s – late 1980s


A selection of shoes and boots, mostly in pairs (12) and three odd shoes including:


- a pair of pale pink cotton ‘Adidas’ sneakers with cream vinyl ‘3 Stripes’ decoration, blue and white printed brand logo stitched to front of tongues above white laces, blue tab to heel, ivory moulded rubber toes and heels, blue and brown moulded rubber soles embellished with ‘Adidas’ logo, stamped ‘128201 - 8’ (some wear)


- a pair of white leather slip-ons by ‘Ware’, no size visible (well worn)


- a pair of tan leather brown moccasins by ‘Kurt Geiger’, no size visible, (well worn)


- a pair of blue nylon high top sneakers by ‘LIC’ with white laces and trim, size ‘42’ (some wear)


- a pair of black patent lace-up shoes by ‘César’ with pointed toe, brown stacked wood heel, leather sole stamped ‘8 ½’ , possibly 1970s, (unworn)


- a pair of black leather lace-up shoes with pointed toe, brown stacked wood heel and metal toe caps, no maker’s name or size visible, possibly 1970s, (worn)


- a pair of white leather lace-ups by ‘Sociart’ with rounded toe, low brown wood heel, leather soles stamped ‘41’, (some wear)


- a pair of black leather lace-up heavy walking-style shoes, no maker’s name or size visible, (some wear)


- a pair of green glitter lace-up platform shoes with cream hardened rubber soles and heels, no maker’s name or size visible, possibly 1970s, (little wear)


- and two pairs of 1970s women’s knee-length leather platform boots: one pair of navy leather with beige platforms, possibly by Alan Mair with square toe, brown stacked wood heels, tan leather lining, the left boot inscribed inside in blue biro ‘Mary Austin’, no maker’s name or size visible, heel – 9 cm high, (well worn); the other pair of black leather with rounded toes, leather covered platform and heel – 10 cm high, no maker’s name or size visible, (worn);


- a pair of black leather lace-up round toe shoes with no maker’s name visible, marked inside ‘7 ½’ (well worn);


and three odd shoes: one right foot blue suede lace-up shoe by Walkers with round toe, low brown wood heel, leather sole, size ‘8’ (worn)


- one right foot Adidas High Top sneaker, 1980s, of white cotton with black felt stripes and cream suede toe and heel, ‘Adidas’ brand logo printed in gold on upper and in black on tongue, white lace, nylon lining ink-stamped ’01 123 8 ½’ , brown moulded rubber sole, size 8 ½ (light wear)


- one black leather ballet shoe, lined in ivory cotton and with elastic strap, the inside sole stamped ‘Freed, London’, the leather sole incised ‘14’


The Adidas three-stripe sneakers in this lot are similar to those Freddie’s seen wearing on stage in the ‘Princes of the Universe’ video, 1986.
