Description
Old Rip Van Winkle 90 Proof NV
Glass code: 74, ullage: high shoulder
Stitzel-Weller’s Old Rip Van Winkle label first appeared in the 1930s. The Van Winkle family was able to keep it when they sold the distillery, and later resurrected it under a deal in which they could continue buying barrels from Stitzel-Weller. Much of it appeared in squat, so-called barrel bottles until 2012, when Van Winkle switched to using tall, cognac-style bottles. And while the 10-year-old Old Rip is found most commonly at 107 proof, early (and today quite rare) releases, such this bottle, came in at 90 proof.
