Elmer T. Lee served as the plant manager at the Ancient Age distillery – today known as Buffalo Trace – during a decades-long bust in the bourbon business. He refused to give up, and created Blanton’s, the first single-barrel bourbon, as a way to boost American whiskey’s profile. In his honor, the distillery created a single-barrel bourbon named for him. In 2009, on Lee’s 90^th birthday, Buffalo Trace allowed him to select the barrels that went into this limited-release
