The Domaine owns one-seventh of this vineyard. The rock structure that underpins Échezeaux is immensely complicated, with lower Bathonian and upper Bajocian limestones in constant interplay. The vineyard is situated very high for a Grand Cru, but the soil has good pebbles and is deep enough to produce outstanding wines. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
