The Rolex 116528, alongside its stainless steel and white gold counterparts, marked the introduction of the in-house Daytona movement in 2000, the calibre 4130.
Hugely popular since its release, the 116528 was replaced in 2016 by Reference 116508, which mainly differs by its bezel with triangular indexes, similar to the white gold version. The watch was available with a rich catalogue of dials. The one present on this lot is particularly worth mentioning. It has a stunning dark iridescent mother-of pearl main plate, with finely textured gold subsidiary dials and gold circled diamond-set indexes. It adds an incredible character to the piece with most pleasant contrasts and an endless variety of shades. Not only these dials are rarer but each of them is slightly different, making them unique.
