Rolex presented the 116719BLRO in 2014, one year after the Batman and seven years after the first ceramic bezel GMT, ref. 116710LN.
With this new model, Rolex resurrected the signature Pepsi bezel and offered it for the first time on a ceramic bezel crowning a maxi case. The new Pepsi was only available in white gold, which commanded a serious premium compared to the stainless steel black bezel version. Furthermore, the 116719BLRO was the first white gold GMT made in series without precious stones.
The reference is known to have two Marks dial. This lot has the original black dial characteristic of the first series. Indeed, when in 2018 Rolex introduced the 126710BLRO, the stainless steel Pepsi, they differentiated it with a Jubilee bracelet as opposed to the Oyster bracelet of the white gold model. To further mark the difference, Rolex introduced the 116719 Mark 2 dial, which was matte blue. Additionally, Rolex offered its clients who previously bought that model to change the black Mark 1 to a blue Mark 2 dial free of charge, hence reducing the number of watches with their original black dial.
This present lot is from the introduction year of the 116719BLRO and has kept its original Mark 1 black dial. It further comes with its guarantee and presentation case.
