The Reference 1509 was produced for less than ten years, between 1941 and 1950.
The large 35mm two-piece case with teardrop lugs was made by Wenger. This well-preserved example with clear hallmarks demonstrates the incredibly savoir faire of the company.
The engraved enamel dial was manufactured by Stern Frères for Patek Philippe. This particular one further distinguished by the different silver tone of the minute track, nicely catching the light and highlighting the elegant layout.
The watch is equipped with beautifully finished Calibre 12 120.
The present example is part of the first production period as it bears the Patek Philippe & Co signature. Its dial layout is typical of the sober elegance of that time with an alternation of Arabic and dot indexes as well as the lightly contrasting outer track for the minutes.
Total production of yellow gold example is estimated at 40 pieces only, further enhancing the appeal of this lot.
