In 2011, Patek Philippe replaced the Ref. 5970 in favor of the Ref. 5270, fitted with the firm's very first in-house perpetual calendar chronograph CH29-535 PS Q caliber. Renowned for their perpetual calendar chronograph movements, this latest model represented the Apex atelier's unrivaled superiority in complications, while paying homage to the icons of their past, such as the Ref. 1518, released in 1941, and Ref. 2499.
The Reference 5271P was launched in 2014, fitting the celebrated model with a black lacquered dial and diamond setting to the bezel, lugs, and buckle. The present lot is dressed with 80 diamonds weighing approximately 4.84 carats. Today we find the 5271P offered in diamond, ruby, or sapphire setting. To the best of our knowledge, only six 5271P in any variation have returned to market, making the present lot an extraordinary opportunity for collectors of fine Patek Philippe wristwatches.
The watch is offered from an important private collection in like-new condition, and complete with a full suite of original accessories including a sealed second case back and setting pin.
