Likely inspired from the scarab form amulets throughout Egyptian history, scarabs appear as timepieces from the late 1800s through the early 1900s.

The present lot is a vibrant example with translucent enamel over guilloché ground. The scarab form case is robust, with the finest textural details engraved to bring this scarab to life.
