Description

The oval lapis lazuli dial between a graduated strap designed as a series of openwork ropetwist links, length approximately 199mm, signed DeLaneau, numbered.

Georges Lenfant was one of the most skilled jewellery makers of the 20th century. Mainly known for his chains and beautiful patterns he was a workmaster for Cartier and had also worked for Sandoz. In the post war years he took over the business of Verger Freres and also worked with Vacheron Constantin. The quality of workmanship often stands out and can be seen in examples such as this watch. It is typical that the workmanship is there but it is unmarked by Lenfant as it was made for a different retailer.
