Magna Carta: Regis Johannis XV. Die Junii Anno Regni XVII. A.D. MCCXV.

London: Apud Johannis Whittaker, 1816


Folio (444 x 330 mm). Printed in gold on card, printed rectos only; scattered spotting and occasional marginal soiling. Contemporary paneled calf, elaborately tooled in gilt and blind, inner dentelles gilt, green endpapers; reabacked and recornered with loss, some nicks, scratches, and stains, extremities rubbed.

Planned by Westminster binder John Whittaker to commemorate the 600th anniversary of its signing, Lowndes describes this book as "the most magnificent of all editions of the Magna Carta."
