Description

the prow inset with a shaped panel painted en plein with a view of Military Council at Fili (1880) by Alexei Kivshenko, beneath a repoussé imperial double-headed eagle and flanked by repoussé stylised flowers and scrolling foliage, the high shaped handle also repoussé, engraved with the Cyrillic cypher PF on the left side and painted en plein on the right side after the left-hand panel of Vasily Vereshchagin's triptych The Old Partisan (1887-1895) called 'Hush! Let them approach!', the ladle also engraved with the Cyrillic cypher PF, and chased with foliate scrolls, concentric circles and further scrolls on the handle, struck throughout with maker's initials, 84 standard
