Description

rectangular, the hinged cover decorated with an elaborate framework of raised foliate designs, interspersed with cabochon jewels including rubies, amethysts, garnet, emerald, quartz, moonstone, tourmaline, and mother of pearl enclosing a reserve with a central relief imperial double-headed eagle emblem flanked by the applied inscriptions 'May' and '1902'; the front edge of the cover mounted with a hasp, lifting to reveal an open interior; the inside of the cover padded and lined in pieced plain white silk, the box sides and interior bottom lined with cardboard wrapped in white silk taffeta; together with a gold plated base metal key, struck with K. Fabergé in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial Warrant, 84 standard
