watercolour with bodycolour on paper laid on canvas and titled and signed Freia/ Edward Poynter ARA on an old label attached to the backboard

Framed: 53 by 46cm., 21 by 18in.

Probably bought from the artist by Ernest Gambart in 1865

Purchased from the above by Jonathan Tong, with whom it remained until his death in 1881; bequeathed to his widow Eleanor Tong (later Mrs William Coltart of Woodleigh, Birkenhead); her sale: Brown & Brown, Liverpool, 31 October 1917
