the splendid glazed display case containing a male and female specimen mounted on branches with vegetation, with characteristic Rowland Ward trade plaque and a pebble painted 'Broomhill Leys / Dec 14 1931'

Lady Amherst’s Pheasants is a bird of the order Galliformes and the family Phasianidae.  The Genus name is from the Ancient Greek khrusolophos “ with golden crest”. In 1828 Sarah Amherst sent the first specimen of the bird to London, hence the English name and amherstiae.
