Description

Château Mouton Rothschild 1989

Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé

u. 3 bn, 2 vts, labels slightly damp wrinkled, 3 labels slightly damp soiled, 3 very slightly scuffed, 2 capsules slightly scuffed at base, one French CRD capsule

Label Artist: Georg Baselitz

Cabernet Sauvignon 78%, Cabernet Franc 14%, Merlot 8%. The Merlot was picked from 6 September and the Cabernet between 16 and 25 September, the earliest vintage at Mouton. In 2023, an incredibly rich, heathery nose, with cassis impact and breed - and all at 12.5%! On the palate, the sheer impact is extraordinary, welcoming and warm. So fresh, especially for such a hot year. Flavours of damsons and brambles. The magnums have a thicker, velvety feel in the mouth, but the sensual imprint is the same. Watch out for the mocha finish. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
