Description

Château d'Yquem 2003

Sauternes, 1er Grand Cru Classé

Excellent levels and appearance, tissue wrapped, individual owc

This is an atypical year, with its excessive heat and high temperatures, but it is a triumph for Pierre Lurton who came to Yquem after the harvest which was, very unusually, effected in one single 'trie', or picking. Brilliant selection in the vineyard and blending have produced an amazing orange honey nose, mixed with acacia. Stunning balance and elegance, which is a feat in a year of climatic extremes. Enormous length on the palate. In 2018, fabulous flavours of kumquat and dried apricots. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

WA 94

3 mags (3 owc)
