A cask of heavily peated Ardross Single Malt, specially selected by The Ardross Distillery team for the Distillers One of One auction. Cask no. 2838 was the last Ardross Peated Single Malt filled in 2022 into a New Fill Oloroso Sherry Cask. This cask and spirit type are not currently available for private sale.

Selected by Chairman and Master Blender Andrew Rankin, this Oloroso from a superlative Jerez bodega will provide the best sherry and wood quality for maturing Scotch Whisky. Due to its size (500L), a Sherry Butt does not mature in the same way as a barrel, and it is Andrew Rankin’s advice that it takes at least 12 years before its full potential is evident.

Conditions

Lying with the donor. In Bond Only.

Ownership not transferable. Includes 12 years storage and insurance. The cask will be bottled free of charge by the donor at a time of the winning bidder's request. The winning bidder is responsible for providing the donor with their dry goods or can opt to use the donor's packaging free of charge. UK duty & VAT will apply at the time of bottling. 100ml samples from the cask and regauging can be requested at biennial intervals at no charge. Please note the purchase price does not include applicable shipping, taxes or import charges which may be charged in addition to the purchase price.

Storage and bottling to be arranged directly with the donor. Sotheby's will provide an introduction between the relevant buyer and donor in order for this to be arranged.

The sale of the Property will be conducted in accordance with Sotheby’s Conditions of Business for Buyers applicable to the sale, which are available on Sotheby’s website, sothebys.com. In addition, the sale of cask whisky will be subject to the Terms of Service of the relevant distillery in relation to the storage, bottling and delivery of the whisky to the buyer for which additional fees will apply. The relevant Terms of Service will be available on Sotheby’s website, sothebys.com. In the event of any inconsistency between the Terms of Service and Sotheby’s Conditions of Business, the Terms of Service will prevail in relation to the transfer of risk, storage, insurance and release of the purchased lot to the buyer. If the sale of any lot of Property is subject to any further terms, such terms will be published on Sotheby’s website, sothebys.com.

By bidding on the Property you accept and agree to be bound by Sotheby’s Conditions of Business for Buyers and, where applicable, the Terms of Service and/or any additional terms that may apply to the sale of a lot. The buyers of the cask whisky agree to provide a signed version of the Terms of Service applicable to the purchased lot immediately after the sale.

The lots of Property in this sale will be offered ‘Without Reserve’ and they will be sold to the highest bidder, regardless of the published pre-sale estimates.
