A Louis XIV style gilt-bronze mounted, cut brass and tortoiseshell inlaid ebony and ebonised bureau mazarin, circa 1880


the top depicting Jupiter seated holding a sceptre and carrying fire and flanked to the right by Venus and Cupid and to the left by Mercury, all amongst Berainesque grotesque motifs, stamped 'VF Paris' between crossed keys to the back of the lock
