Description
A yellowish-celadon jade 'cloud' pendant
Neolithic period, Hongshan culture
9.5 cm
Acquired in Hong Kong, 1994-2002.
A series of cloud-shaped pendants were produced in the Hongshan Culture region imitating various forms, such as birds, blades, and turtles, with the design of hooks. Compare a similar Hongshan jade ‘cloud’ pendant with four corners in the Tianjin Museum, illustrated in Jade Wares Collected by Tianjin Museum, Beijing, 2012, no. 4. See another example decorated with a humanoid mask, sold in these rooms, 8th April 2023, lot 3771.
