Description

Geoffrey Beene Copper, Green, and Gold Collaged Lace Cocktail Dress, 1995

This silk blend, Trapeze style cocktail dress, features a flyaway back, empire waist, and raglan sleeves made in floral and abstract whorl lace mixed with copper, green, and gold leopard print. Mr. Beene credited Koos van den Akker, of the Koos fashion label, for the technique of collaging different fabric types and textures together. This dress was custom made for I. Magnin, San Francisco, where Mr. Beene traveled for many personal appearances and trunk shows.

Generously donated by Amy Fine Collins.
