Description

Dorothy L. Sayers (Contributor)

Oxford Poetry 1915. Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1915

FIRST EDITION, SAYERS'S OWN (SIGNED) COPY OF HER FIRST APPEARANCE IN BOOK FORM, 8vo, original wrappers, wrappers splitting along backstrip

First edition. Sayers's own copy of her first appearance in book form with her ownership signature to the half-title and her holograph corrections to her contribution on p.50 (a poem entitled "Lay", written during her final year of reading Modern Languages at Somerville College, Oxford). Sayers went on to co-edit the volumes of Oxford Poetry for 1917-19. Amusingly, this slim volume also contains the first appearance in book form of J.R.R. Tolkien and the first appearance in print of Aldous Huxley.
