FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, later issue (without first issue points listed by Smith), half-title, printed title dated 1837, 2pp. address by the author, 3pp. preface, directions to the binder, etched frontispiece, title-page and 41 plates by R. Seymour and Phiz, SIGNATURE OF DICKENS PRESERVED ON FRONT PASTEDOWN, modern half red morocco gilt by Bayntun-Riviere, spine with raised bands in six compartments, upper cover with author portrait in gilt, lower cover with Dickens facsimile signature in gilt, gilt edges, marbled endpapers, inner dentelles, preserved in fleece-lined orange buckram slipcase, a few very minor tissue repairs, slipcase slightly bumped at one corner
A handsomely re-bound copy of the first edition in book form of Dickens' first novel.
