2 volumes, 8vo (162 x 99 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: (1) a-u8 aa-oo8: 272 leaves. (2) A-Z8 AA-EE8: 224 leaves. (Some light dampstaining, heavier in the first volume, particularly at beginning and end.)


binding: Contemporary French limp vellum (160 x 103 mm), double gilt fillet on sides surrounding a gilt arabesque, traces of ties, all edges gilt. (Some cords separated, slightly cockled and dustsoiled.)


provenance: Early inscription on title-page, "P. Terrassina" — John Rutherfurd (1748-1834), of Edgerston, printed booklabel — sale, Sotheby's, Hodgson's rooms, 22-23 April 1971, lot 334 (with 4 other uniformly-bound volumes from a set of Cicero). acquisition: Purchased at preceding sale. references: UCLA 431; Edit16 12309; Renouard 154/7
