Description

gouache on paper, with gold borders decorated with a finely painted scrolling floral vine in polychrome, the lower border with a Persian inscription in black nasta'liq 'We and Majnun were fellow travellers in the plain of madness', laid down on an album page, the upper margin decorated with two birds amidst large blooms and flowering plants on a buff-coloured ground, inscribed 'waqf' in black nasta'liq near upper edge and bearing a seal impression 'Hussein (?) Ahmad ibn Muhammad 'Ali'
