Description

the body of spherical form rising from a short foot to a slightly tapering cylindrical neck with everted rim, a thin curved handle and straight spout, covered with a deep turquoise slip and decorated with incised bands of trefoil patterns, the handle painted with band on pointed motifs

A bottle attributed to Kirman and dated to the first half of the seventeenth century in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (inv. no.909, published in Soustiel 1985cat. no.312, p.288) displays a comparable incised decoration of trefoil motifs.
