gouache heightened with gold on paper, four lines of devanagari text, red floral border with black and white rules and pink stained margins
painting: 24.6 by 18.4cm.
leaf: 39.7 by 28.4cm.
This illustration belongs to a known ragamala series that was commissioned by Raiji Moti Ram of Malpura, dated 1756-57 and illustrated by the painter Jai Kishan. Other folios can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum (IS.156-1963), the San Diego Museum of Art and the Fogg Art Museum (Ebeling 1973, no.22, Binney 1968, no.36).
