The large and rare Tibetan silver repoussé statue is a pair to the four-armed silver Avalokiteshvara formerly in the Cranmore Ethnographical Museum, whose collection was formed in the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century by Harry G. Beasley (d. 1939), see Graves, Son and Pilcher, March 3, 1975, pl. 7, lot 72, and Sotheby’s, London, 9th May 1977, lot 166.
