acquired from the above by the present owner

The present statuette lacks the broad copper and electrum collar worn by most Late Period standing bronze Neiths. This simplified dress seems to be characteristic of the 26th Dynasty, when the cult of the goddess rose to pre-eminence as the Saite kings established her cult centre at Sais as their capital. A contemporaneous example which likewise lacks the standard collar and features similar facial rendering is in the Brooklyn Museum (62.1).
