wearing a long, ornamented robe with broad belt decorated with zigzags, a long braid of hair hanging over each shoulder from a flaring polos with large volute in front, the back with wavy locks, her face with one large dotted eye and pointed nose.

Raphaël Collin was a prominent French academic painter and pupil of William-Adolphe Bouguereau. His collection was assembled with the help of Edmond Pottier, curator in the department of eastern antiquities at the Musée du Louvre.
Senator William A. Clark was an American Senator and titan of industry who made his fortune primarily from copper mining in Montana. Clark's first campaign to become a United States Senator in 1899 was rejected when it was revealed that he had bribed members of the Montana State Legislature in return for their votes. A later campaign was successful, and he served a single term from 1901-1907.
