A gilt-bronze-mounted Théodore Deck vase, circa 1885


after a Chinese archaic bronze form, of lozenge section, applied with elephant head handles, moulded in low relief with stylised masks and painted with birds among trailing leaves, impressed mark T.H. Deck, the rim with a reeded mount intertwined with leaves and the mount to the base with four foliate-form scrolled feet
