Paul Newman Academy Award® Nomination Plaque

Certificate of Nomination plaque (13 3/4 x 12 in.) awarded to producer Paul Newman for Best Picture of 1968 at the 41st Academy Awards in 1969; signed by Academy President Gregory Peck.

Based on the novel "A Jest of God," by Margaret Laurence, Rachel, Rachel was Paul Newman's directorial debut. Starring his wife Joanne Woodward, the film follows the story of Rachel Cameron, played by Woodward, who is a repressed schoolteacher struggling to take hold of her isolated and monotonous life. The film proved to be a family affair with Nell Potts, who portrays Rachel as a young girl, and Claire Newman, who plays the baby on the beach with Rachel at the end of the film, both being Paul and Joanne's daughters.
