A charming needlepoint, made by actress and family friend, Sylvia Sidney. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward had one of the most legendary marriages—and, indeed, partnerships—in Hollywood. Married over 50 years, the couple made a total of 16 films together.
The present needlepoint, which dates to 1972, was given to Joanne and Paul by Sylvia Sidney around the time she and Woodward were filming Gilbert Cates's Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams (1973). The film would go on to garner Oscar nominations for Woodward (Best Actress) and Sidney (Best Supporting Actress).
