CONCEPT OF ARTWORK

This tiger is designed and decorated by art students from UWCSEA to support tiger conservation work. The design concept includes a ‘peace bill’, with the intentional value of $0000, which aims to represent the tiger as priceless, while referencing the devastating impact of the monetisation of these beautiful animals. The image of the design was printed onto a lino sheet carved out and paint was rolled onto the lino print and stamped onto the fibreglass tiger sculpture.

ABOUT UWCSEA

UWCSEA’s mission is to use education as a force to create a peaceful future, and to equip our students to bring this about in their lives beyond the College. Through the Service element of the UWCSEA learning programme, students (K1 to Grade 12) have age-appropriate opportunities to learn about global development and environmental challenges. The Tiger Trail campaign gave Grade 12 student Olivia Huynh the opportunity to transform a fibreglass tiger sculpture into an art piece with a strong wildlife conservation message. As UWCSEA celebrates 50 years in Singapore, we recognise how important it is to commit to awareness initiatives, like the Tiger Trail, that are aligned with our mission to use education to shape a sustainable future.
