The present lot is almost exactly the same size as another Reclining Nude of 1944 in the collection of the Irma Stern Trust and is clearly part of the same series - albeit slightly less finished - made in Stern's studio and, most likely, the same model. See Michael Godby's Nudes (2021), p.143, Fig.9:2.
